The Struggles I’ve Faced (and How I Overcame Them)

I used to be the girl who had it all together on the outside but felt completely lost on the inside.

Smiling, achieving, ticking all the boxes—while secretly battling self-doubt, people-pleasing and a constant need to prove myself.

I pushed myself to be perfect.
I obsessed over how I looked.
I said “yes” when I wanted to say “no.”
I ignored my intuition.
I settled in relationships.
I numbed myself with partying, distractions and avoiding the real work.

I looked happy, but deep down, I felt empty.
Lost.
Stuck in a cycle of trying to prove my worth instead of owning it.

The real transformation happened when I stopped performing for the world and started showing up for myself.

Here’s what I faced—and the lessons that changed everything:

  • I Chased Perfection—and It Burned Me Out
    For years, I pushed myself to be “good enough,” not realising I was playing by someone else’s rules. The day I stopped trying to earn my worth and started owning it, everything changed. I backed myself more, which meant I took more risks. I stopped waiting for permission and started living on my own terms.

    I Hated My Body Until I Realised Its Power
    Picking myself apart in the mirror was second nature. I thought confidence came from looking a certain way—until I focused on what my body could do instead.
    I started looking at myself with compassion and kindness.
    I stopped measuring my worth against other people’s bodies and owned mine. That shift set me free.

    Social Media Had Me Stuck in Comparison Mode
    Scrolling, comparing, feeling behind—it stole my joy.
    When I stopped living for a highlight reel and started building a life that felt good, not just looked good, I finally found peace. Life is messy and social media is fake. Realising this freed me from chasing perfection.

    I Settled in Love—Until I Learned My Worth
    I accepted the bare minimum because I didn’t think I deserved more. But once I raised my standards and started speaking my truth, some people couldn’t handle it. It pushed them away—but in doing so, I became more aligned with people who energise me and truly see me.

    I Was a People-Pleaser, Saying “Yes” to Everything
    I thought being agreeable made me likable. In reality, it made me exhausted, resentful and disconnected from myself.
    Learning to say “no” was the most freeing thing I ever did.
    I noticed how powerful I felt—more confident, more magnetic.
    My worth was not negotiable. It was liberating.

    I Lived on Autopilot—Until I Woke Up
    Study. Work. Date. Repeat. I followed the script until I finally asked: What do I actually want?
    That question changed the trajectory of my life. I became bold, chased my dreams, I quit my job, moved interstate by myself, made mistakes, and learned from them. I stopped playing safe.

    I Ignored My Gut—and Paid the Price
    Every time I silenced my intuition, I ended up in situations that didn’t serve me. Getting my heart broken by a man who didn’t deserve me was the wake-up call I needed. I saw the red flags on the first date—and still ignored them. Why? Because he was hot and I was desperate for validation. That was a hard truth to swallow. Now, I trust my instincts without question, and life flows so much easier.

    I Used Partying to Escape
    Drinking, vaping, smoking weed—it was my way of numbing. I told myself it was “fun,” but in reality, it left me anxious, empty and out of alignment. Questioning why I drank helped me realise it wasn’t who I wanted to be. It didn’t align with my higher self. It was negatively impacting my mood, my mental health, my physical health—and my soul. Choosing a life that fuels me instead of drains me was the best decision I ever made
